It's hard to be a house rat,
Only 2 years life-span and that's that.
And these 2 years are fraught,
With getting chased or caught.
Finding oneself in a trap,
Or being enticed with poisonous crap.
A little chewing here and there,
Surely doesn't merit a murderous fare.
Such a short time already on earth.
And I'm grudged a little mirth.
